Welcome Homeschoolers!
In working with the homeschooling community it has proven best to build a program tailored to fit your needs. This can be for an individual child, or any homeschooling group up to 15 children.
Homeschooling programs are created to enhance whatever path of experiences your child/children are on. A schedule is created to suit the needs and rhythms of your child/group. Most commonly we meet once a week for a semester, or several times a week for a short block of weeks (4-6). Classes generally meet for 1-3 hours depending upon factors such as the ages of the children, the location, and what we are doing.
Some sample classes include:
- Early Handwork- finger knitting, twiddling, paper making, water felting, twig weaving and all things fine motor. Working with their fingers, young kids work the muscle needed later for logical thinking and mathematics.
- Earth Art- a wide range of art and craft projects awaits your child. Experiences are facilitated where everyone has an opportunity to explore and dance within their imagination. We will strengthen our senses and through stomping in the mud and then building with it, we will become further grounded to the Earth.
- Exploring Letters I- Here we learn the letters and their sounds. After being introduced to each letter through a short story or rhyme, kids will sculpt, mold, paint, build, hunt for and in short-truly 'become' the letters! Words are created as sounds are able to be put together. In the end each child will have created their own beautifully illustrated alphabet book, and early reader card catalog.
- Exploring Letters II- usually follows part one. Using gifts from nature and an array of craft mediums kids will learn words while drawing from phonics, whole language and structural reading approaches.
- A Day On the Earth- Each day is devoted to a different inhabitant of our Mother Earth. Using the wooded areas in our own neighborhoods we will look and listen for life. Then through conversation and field research we will learn. By the end each child will have created his/her own beautiful book rich in drawings and detailed descriptions of various plants and animals indigenous to this area.
Prices depend upon the program we create, how often we meet, for how long, where we meet and how many kids are involved. Generally, a semester long class meeting once weekly for 2 hours is about $600 per child. Prices would go up or down from there once additional factors are incorporated.
