“WEE LITTLE DWELLINGS AND THE LITTLE FOLKS WHO LIVE IN THEM”
Friday May 22 from 9:30am- 1:30pm
Chestnut Ridge NY
Ahh childhood. Let‘s gather together to honour the child within us. Remember the little people who came to visit during childhood? As we grew up somehow life got the best of us and these little folks stopped coming. In this workshop we will design and construct our own Fairie Houses. Once complete they can serve as a new play piece for your kids (older ones) or they can be a beautiful addition to a nature table. Or, if you dare-place it carefully in your yard, and maybe; just maybe, you will find some new garden friends will move in.
Let your imagination be your guide. A walnut shell cradle or a pair of boots made from peanut shells. An acorn hat, some grains of rice and a blade of sawgrass makes a groovy 1950’s hanging lamp! A textured wall shows the beauty of the intricate designs of a cantaloupe rind. A seaglass mirror adorns a fancy fairie bathroom! We have no limitations where our imagination is involved. Join us today and work this muscle which lays dormant in so many of us as we live our hectic and busy daily lives.
Materials we will use include sticks, twigs, clay, moss, cones, flowers, cut glass, feathers, shells, sand, stones, nuts, hand drills, hammer and nails, sandpaper, tree bark and whatever else one might feel they need* to construct a comfy place for their wee friends to hang out!
Cost: $35 (includes all materials) Feel free to bring lunch. We will be taking a break midway through the class. In addition I will provide a healthy organic snack from the Earth.
You are encouraged to bring any treasures you may have or may stumble upon to add to your creation or to the table! Dried flowers, berries or even little charms and jewels are great! Consider tiny heads that can be cut from photos and ‘reframed’ to add to and personalize your creation. What a thrill to peek inside a fairies home and she that she has a framed picture of you!
